Superhero visitors

Last week we were lucky enough to have two different types of real-life superheroes visit our school!

On Tuesday we got to meet some firefighters.  We found out what they wear to keep safe when fighting fires, what is inside the fire engine, how to keep ourselves safe during a fire and even how to work the hose on the fire engine!  Here are some photos from our awesome fire fighter visit:

On Friday we met some policemen.  One of our visitors was a special type of policeman from the Armed Offenders Squad.  He showed us what he wears when he is on a job and some of the special equipment he has.  We also met two police dogs and they did some tricks for us.  Here are some photos of our exciting time with the police:

Superhero Day!

Our Junior Syndicate inquiry this term is "Superheroes in our Community".  We are going to learn about all the amazing real-life superheroes that are here to help us.  To start off our inquiry we had a Superhero Day today.  Everyone came dressed as their favourite superhero.  Here are some photos of B4 in our costumes and from our Junior Superhero Parade.

Spider Poems

Last week our blend was sp.  We wrote some amazing cinquain (5-line) poems about spiders. First we read some books and watched some videos about spiders.  Then we thought up lots of adjectives (describing words) and verbs (action words) that we could use in our writing.  We used these words to write fantastic cinquain poems which we then published as spooky spiders.  They look really cool hanging up in our classroom!  Come into B4 and check them out!

Principal's Award for Excellence

At the end of every term one child in each class receives an award from our principal Mrs Henderson.  This award is given to someone who has been showing excellence in all of their work for the whole term.  It was a very hard decision for Mrs Harrington to make because there are so many super duper workers in B4, but the award for Term 2 went to Mason.  Here are some photos of Mason receiving his award at our assembly last week.  Congratulations Mason!
